About The Position

Peraton is seeking an experienced and accomplished Automation Engineer (Spunk Developer) to be part of a team supporting the operations and maintenance of a large scale Integrated Eligibility application for the State of Texas Health and Human Services Commission covering infrastructure support services in Austin, Texas. This candidate will be the expert on automation technologies and will develop and maintain the event management logic and workflows to support performance and availability alerts from infrastructure monitoring tools and cybersecurity alerts from security monitoring tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience or a Masters degree and 6 years of experience or a Associates degree and 10 years of experience or a High School Diploma and 12 years of experience
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Strong experience with Splunk (on-premise) as a power user, including creating dashboards and high-level searches
• Proven expertise in automation development using Python, PowerShell, Ansible, or CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins).
• Hands-on experience with system monitoring tools such as Splunk, Nagios, Datadog, or AWS CloudWatch.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in Python scripting
• Experience with Ansible Automation Platform
• Preferred candidates will be located in or near the Austin, Texas area. Candidates local to Austin may be given priority consideration.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that automated monitoring and ticket generation processes are occurring properly
• Establishes and maintains event management and monitoring documentation
• Work closely with technical staff to clarify the accuracy of automated incident assignments and the elimination of false positives
• Evaluate requests for automation enhancements for value and authorization
• Provide consultation with customers and support teams on automation methods and technology
