About The Position

The Automation Engineer III is responsible for overseeing the discipline and managing the discipline budget on small to medium projects of limited complexity. The Engineer coordinates with internal and external engineers, as well as client, construction manager, subcontractor, and vendor interfaces. The Engineer possesses the demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others. The Engineer may work independently or at the direction of the Lead Engineer or Project Manager. The Engineer will have the ability to develop designs of Control Systems of intermediate complexity, consisting of multiple controllers, HMIs, Workstations and Servers.

Requirements

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in discipline specific degree (ARE, ChemE, ME or EE)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience required, preferably in a design firm setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Proficiency in discipline specific software required
  • Intermediate knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments
  • Intermediate experience with performing instrumentation and controls engineering calculations, and developing and implementing instrumentation and control system design required
  • Intermediate experience reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Intermediate experience with the electrical code required
  • Intermediate experience with other applicable industry standards required
  • Intermediate experience with applicable mechanical and building codes required
  • Proficient with intermediate internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination required
  • Proficient with intermediate coordination with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers required
  • Proficient at intermediate list of discipline systems design calculations with limited supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit preferred
  • Intermediate experience with implementing fundamental design aspects of control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, field wiring plans design preferred
  • Basic experience and knowledge with designing Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Basic experience with troubleshooting issues with discipline and systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interface with client and external partners
  • Plan and direct work and manage a project budget from a discipline design perspective on small projects of limited complexity required
  • Support proposal development under the supervision of a lead or senior engineer required
  • Identify basic non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys
  • Develop basic internal discipline design and engineering training presentations required.
  • Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on intermediate projects of limited complexity and with little oversight required
  • Lead squad check and discipline check for small projects of intermediate complexity and drive overall project quality required
  • Provide mentorship to discipline Engineer I and/or Designer I and II required
  • Lead intermediate project system design programming and master planning with support from lead or Senior Engineer
