About The Position

As an Automation Engineer III specializing in Building Automation Systems (BAS), you will lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of integrated control systems for complex building environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver smart, energy-efficient, and scalable automation solutions for life sciences, biotech, and advanced manufacturing facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in BAS design and implementation, preferably in regulated industries (e.g., pharma, biotech).

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in BAS platforms (e.g., Siemens Desigo, Tridium Niagara, Honeywell EBI, Johnson Controls Metasys).
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, control theory, and network protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office suite, and Bluebeam.
  • Experience with programming DDC controllers and configuring HMI/graphics interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Engineering Develop control system architecture and detailed design documents for BAS, including HVAC, lighting, energy management, and environmental monitoring systems.
  • Specify and configure DDC controllers, instrumentation, and network infrastructure.
  • Create control logic framework, sequences of operation, and integration strategies for third-party systems (e.g., fire alarm, security, BMS).
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments to provide formal recommendations of controls solutions and strategies.
  • Project Execution Develop detailed specifications and design documentation for BAS programming, configuration, and commissioning activities
  • Perform site acceptance testing, troubleshooting, and validation to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Client & Team Collaboration Interface with clients to gather requirements, present technical solutions, and provide training and support.
  • Collaboration with architects, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers to provide a seamless control strategy.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal standards and best practices.
  • Documentation & Compliance Prepare and maintain accurate documentation including specifications, control narratives, wiring diagrams, and commissioning reports.
  • Ensure systems comply with relevant codes, standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, ISA, IBC, OSHA), and sustainability goals (LEED, WELL).
