About The Position

Join the Utz Quality Foods team as an Automation/Electrical Control Technician and take your skills to the next level! We're looking for a talented, hands-on professional to design, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the electrical systems that power our production and facility equipment at our Kings Mountain, NC location. You'll bring your expertise with programmable controllers, HMI's, and control system design to keep our operations running smoothly. This role offers the opportunity to work independently and requires some flexibility to work off shifts and at other local plant locations as needed. Requirements

  • 5+ years of prior experience, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Experience managing large-scope projects and capital improvements.
  • Working knowledge of diverse business functions, including manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and preventative maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and professionally develop others.
  • Knowledge of safety and quality control procedures.
  • Familiarity with Human Resources practices and policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement Processes including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with demonstrated ability troubleshooting process related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, including motor controls, DC/AC drives, frying and baking equipment, sheeters, extruders, temperature instrumentation, burner systems, packaging machines, electronic scales, and programmable logic controllers.
  • Review and modify existing equipment as needed to meet safety, quality, and production requirements.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and repair PC and PLC-controlled equipment and components.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and repair/replace sensors, scanners, vision systems, motors, variable frequency drives, and encoders.
  • Perform control system upgrades and integrate new or existing equipment.
  • Develop electrical design standards and create electrical requirements.
  • Select and operate necessary hardware and software for the development of control systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical wiring, relay logic, control, and safety circuits using electrical schematics and electronic test equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance processes, efficiency, quality, and service.
