Airgas is Hiring for a Automation Director in Houston, TX or Atlanta, GA! Reporting to the VP, Sales & Marketing of Red-D-Arc, the incumbent is responsible for leading the Automation Team, human capital resource planning, product development/enhancement and growth strategies for the products and teams. The Director of Automation is a critical leadership role responsible for the successful execution, governance, and scaling of the company’s automation strategy. This role manages the day-to-day operations of product development and enhancements, driving the delivery of automated solutions that enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and quality across the enterprise. The Director acts as a key bridge between executive strategy and technical implementation.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education equivalent to a University or College Degree preferred.
  • Experience in operations, industrial equipment rental or welding equipment preferred.
  • Welding training is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of welding processes and equipment

Responsibilities

  • Ensure business automation strategies are aligned with the overall organization and support the business to deliver needed results for internal and external customers, supporting our financial goals as an organization.
  • Conduct Business reviews with the President, Regional Vice-Presidents for the company and adjusting strategies as needed to exceed established goals.
  • Collaborates with other automation leadership within Airgas to grow the overall market for Airgas and Red-D-Arc in Automation, and related gas and welding products lines.
  • Attend annual sales meetings and quarterly business reviews as required.
  • Involved in the review of all automation new hires and personally interviewing anyone who is being considered for a management position for a sales or automation position.
  • Conduct scheduled performance reviews and annual wage reviews of direct reports.
  • Work with the leadership team to plan strategies & training programs to improve sales skills and product knowledge of the teams, coordinating internal & external development opportunities.
  • Upon receipt of growth targets for the product lines, prepare annual budgets to support intended growth plans.
  • Review monthly P&L and question substantial variances (positive as well as negative), to uncover reason(s) for the variance, and devise plans to improve or capitalize on specific opportunities.
  • Approve departmental credits and expenditures; ensure they are within budgets.
  • Reviews, calibrates, approves all wage increases and compensation changes within the department.
  • Expand present boundaries and develop new markets for Red-D-Arc, an Airgas Company.
  • Develop and execute an annual sales growth plan. Implement specific product line growth strategies.
  • Participate in annual business review with Airgas senior management.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines.
  • Work on personal goals set by the President.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
