About The Position

Step into a day on our manufacturing floor You arrive at our Rochester, NY site and join a cross-functional crew of Operations Technicians and Engineers. A line pauses; you dive in—reading electrical prints, tracing pneumatics, isolating a fault in a high-speed assembly system. You resolve the issue, log the work, and brief the next shift so output stays on track. In between calls, you perform scheduled PMs, tweak a PLC parameter, and assist in an offline rebuild to boost reliability. What you will do Partner with Operations Technicians and Engineers to reduce downtime and elevate line performance. Troubleshoot, repair, and document issues on fast-moving manufacturing equipment. Diagnose PLC/HMI control logic when appropriate and capture findings in maintenance records. Execute and record preventive maintenance activities. Provide clear shift-to-shift handoffs and communicate equipment status to supervisors/management. Contribute to offline machine rebuilds and pre-work to support upgrades and reliability. Work within Bausch + Lomb’s 12-hour rotational framework; comfort with this schedule is required. Travel occasionally to support equipment builds, integration, or training as needed (minimal). Support plant equipment systems under the direction of the Plant Maintenance Supervisor. Shift options with built-in overtime and regular days off Rotating Day/Night: Week 1: Mon/Tue 6 AM–6 PM, Fri/Sat/Sun 6 PM–6 AM; Week 2: Wed/Thu 6 AM–6 PM. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • At least 2 years as a technician performing equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Comfort reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics (required).
  • Proven troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical/electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Equipment troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
  • Electrical/electronic systems and reading schematics
  • Mechanical troubleshooting
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Motor replacement, repair, and maintenance
  • Shop math, basic computer skills, and professional communication

Nice To Haves

  • Apprenticeship or associate degree in an electrical/mechanical discipline preferred; relevant hands-on experience can substitute.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and clear communication; experience with documentation in regulated environments (medical device or similar) is a plus.
  • Exposure to PLC troubleshooting; experience with robots and servos is desirable (SCARA, FANUC, Staubli, IAI).
  • Background with injection molding equipment (electric and hydraulic) is a plus.
  • Understanding of cGMP and working in cleanroom environments preferred.
