In this role, the Automation Controls Engineer will work with power, controls and information systems to initiate and lead improvements to deliver cost reduction, scrap reduction and process/data reliability. The engineer will implement/support various machine control systems and verify safe and correct operation. Duracell does not offer sponsorship

  • Implement/support various automated controls technologies including PLC systems, control and communication networks, SCADA (server and standalone) systems, PC based Integration software systems, VFD and servo drives, Robotics, vision systems, program and parameter-based instrumentation and other advanced sensor technologies.
  • Design power distribution systems and verify correct implementation for power generation, transmission, and utilization, including troubleshooting any issues that arise.
  • Partner with plant technicians, engineers and equipment vendors to deliver control systems upgrades that provide optimal equipment operation to produce quality products at the lowest cost while maintaining the safety of people who interact with equipment.
  • Own the project from concept all the way through technician training and startup.
  • Pro-actively seek out losses and improvement opportunities throughout the manufacturing plants.
  • Follow and leverage the proper engineering and project management tools and work processes.
  • Develops deep mastery in selected areas of technology.
  • Knowledge of PLC, HMI, Servo and VFD Drives and advanced sensor technologies.
  • Experience defining and writing requirements for automation solutions.
  • Seeks out knowledge and is able to quickly grasp technical concepts and grow personal expertise.
  • Manages time effectively by understanding assignment requirements, prioritizing objectives, and scheduling tasks accordingly.
  • Listens and communicates well in a team environment.

  • Minimum B.S. in Engineering with preference for Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • >3 years of experience in a related field engineering position is desired.
  • Experience with automated controls technologies. This could include PLC systems, control and communication networks, PC based Integration software systems, VFD and servo drives, Robotics, vision systems, program and parameter-based instrumentation and other advanced sensor technologies.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) applications. This Includes distributed automation control applications, data archiving, automation software applications, virtual server control, application database and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of high-level programming languages is a plus.
  • Visions systems, robotic systems, and SCADA systems knowledge and experience are a plus, including ML/AI.
