A Day in the Life The Automation & Controls Engineer II will support automation initiatives from concept through production deployment, focusing on advanced technologies such as automation cells, collaborative robots (Cobots). This role ensures seamless integration of automation systems, process development, and equipment mechanization to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability across manufacturing operations. Requirements

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 0 years relevant experience.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years experience in: PLC Troubleshooting: Diagnose, repair, and optimize PLC-controlled systems to ensure reliable automation performance.
  • Mechanical Design: Develop and refine mechanical components and assemblies for automated equipment.
  • Electrical Design: Develop and refine electrical drawings for automated equipment.
  • Machine Building: Oversee and support the construction and integration of automated machinery from concept to deployment.
  • Systems Engineering: Design and implement integrated automation systems, ensuring compatibility across hardware and software platforms.
  • Programming: Design, program, and deploy applications written in .NET or Python.
  • Simulation: Utilize simulation tools to validate automation concepts, optimize workflows, and predict system performance.
  • Machine Vision: Implement vision systems for inspection, quality control, and process automation.
  • Robotics: Design, program, and deploy robotic solutions for manufacturing and material handling applications.
  • Cobots: Integrate robots and collaborative robots (Cobots) into production environments for flexible automation.
  • Process Development: Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to transition from manual to automated workflows, ensuring scalability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Execute automation opportunities from concept to production deployment.
  • Support equipment mechanization and automation from business case to implementation.
  • Improve equipment uptime through troubleshooting, design changes, vendor partnerships, and hypercare.
  • Work with sites and maintain an automation roadmap for value streams.
  • Develop processes to transition from manual to automated operations.
  • Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and sustaining engineering teams to integrate process changes.
  • Document equipment requirements and review vendor designs for compliance.
  • Support the full equipment life cycle, from development to sunsetting.
  • Drive standard work for equipment health assessment and reliability.
  • Oversee installation and hypercare of electromechanical systems.
