As a Full-Time Automatic Transmission Technician at Phil Long Ford of Motor City, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and repairing manual and automatic transmissions in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include efficiently executing repairs based on detailed repair orders, ensuring that quality and time allowances are met. You will diagnose malfunctions, disassemble and reassemble transmission units, and communicate effectively with both the parts department and service advisors to ensure seamless operations. Keeping customer vehicles in pristine condition is paramount, as you'll be responsible for road testing and documenting all work performed. Continuous learning through manufacturer-sponsored training will keep you at the forefront of automotive technology. You will also supervise apprentice technicians, maintaining a tidy and safe work environment while adhering to federal and local regulations. Requirements

  • Two to four years of related experience and/or comprehensive training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong language skills are essential, enabling you to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and safety rules, as well as write clear, concise communication.
  • Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Problem-solving skills are crucial, as you will encounter various practical challenges requiring innovative solutions under limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret complex instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Valid driver's license
