About The Position

The Automatic Drilling Unit (ADU) Technician provides comprehensive technical and mechanical support for Automatic Drilling Unit (ADU) systems at the Airbus US Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, AL. This specialized equipment automates high-precision drilling, which is critical to the aircraft assembly process. The role is responsible for the setup, repair, implementation, and calibration of all ADU equipment, fixtures, and templates to meet production requirements. The technician will collaborate directly with production teams, working both in the ADU shop and on the production line to ensure equipment uptime and manufacturing consistency. This is a 2nd shift, temporary (contract) position, with a work schedule of Monday through Friday from 2:00pm to 10:30pm, though flexibility to shift based on company needs is paramount. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America. The manufacturing team focuses on quality, productivity, and efficiency, ensuring the highest quality of care and safety in each aircraft assembled and maintained. The facility produces A320 Family aircraft and A220 aircraft, strengthening the U.S. aerospace industry and enhancing Airbus' global competitiveness.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the industrial maintenance, maintenance of ADU’s, maintenance of test equipment or equivalent mechanical or technical type vocation (for example; automotive transmission repair, engine overhauls, etc.)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be able to work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 5+ years minimum experience in with hands-on experience in the maintenance of ADU's, drilling templates, cutting tools and test equipment.
  • A vocational/technical certificate will be considered in-lieu of experience for entry level positions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the complete setup, calibration, and implementation of all Automatic Drilling Unit (ADU) equipment, cutting tools, and drilling templates.
  • Conduct ongoing preventative maintenance and execute timely technical repairs on ADU systems to ensure maximum uptime for the A220/A320 Final Assembly Line (FAL)
  • Oversee the full qualification process for new ADU systems and support their successful entry into service.
  • Provide technical oversight and on-the-job instruction to FAL employees, ensuring safe and efficient use of ADU equipment.
  • Champion Airbus best practices, actively advise teams on process optimization, and meticulously record lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
