About The Position

Piedmont Door Solutions, established in 2001, is a leading provider of pedestrian door and entrance solutions in the Southeast, known for its unmatched customer service, passion for detail, and ability to cater to clients' unique needs. The company is seeking an Automatic Door Repair and Install Technician for its Columbia, SC branch. This role involves repairing, maintaining, and installing doors, turnstiles, revolving doors, and other entrance or security products on location in commercial buildings, hospitals, and stores. Piedmont Door Solutions provides the necessary training, tools, equipment, and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a background in residential or commercial doors, garage doors, construction, military, electrical work, fabrication, access control, glazing, carpentry, mechanical, installing or servicing products, or any other skilled trade.

Requirements

  • Automatic door or similar experience.
  • Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Problem solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Familiar with power and hand tools.
  • Must possess an unrestricted and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Comfortable using power tools and hand tools - personally or professionally.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and/or climb for long periods of time in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Lift 75+ pounds.
  • Work at heights/use a ladder.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen required.
  • COVID-19, flu, and other vaccinations may be required.
  • Must have a clean criminal and motor vehicle record.
  • Initial Covid vaccine is required due to work in health care facilities.
  • Yearly flu shots and TB tests are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for having worked with carpentry, electric, military, HVAC, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to be a Piedmont Door Technician: Install, repair, and maintain doors, turnstiles, revolving doors, and other entrance or security products
  • Take initiative: Proactively assist in projects, demonstrating autonomy in a high-expectation, low-supervision environment to drive project success.
  • Learn and adapt: Embrace the opportunity to learn techniques from your trainer, building on existing skills and showing a desire to grow.
  • Maintain professional worksite: Ensure a clean, organized, and professional worksite, paying attention to detail, taking pride in workmanship, and solving problems for customers.
  • Work with office staff: Order and track parts, materials, and time spent on services.
