About the position

The Automated Test Engineer (ATE) position at Syms Strategic Group (SSG) involves supporting a large Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) nationwide program. The role focuses on designing and implementing test automation strategies, managing test automation resources, and integrating with CI/CD tools. The ATE will work closely with engineering and QA teams to enhance the development pipeline and ensure quality through automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Electing or identifying areas/test cases for Automation
• Designing & Implementing Test Automation Strategy
• Creating Automation Test Plan and getting approvals
• Choosing selenium tools and configuring Selenium Test Environment (Ex: Eclipse IDE, Java, Selenium WebDriver and TestNG etc.)
• Creating, organizing, and managing Test Automation Resources
• Designing, developing, and executing automated tests
• Extending existing test automation frameworks and tools
• Integrating with CI/CD tools and pipeline (i.e. Jenkins)
• Triage, troubleshoot and document defects
• Documenting QA procedures for the team
• Working closely with engineering and QA to manage and improve the development pipeline
• Performing and writing automated functional, system, regression, and integration testing
• Supporting multiple Scrum teams as surge requirements dictate.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
• 8+ years Automated Software development and testing experience
• Experience using at least two automation tools/technologies
• Java, C# or Python development experience
• Experience developing test plans and test procedures
• Comprehensive technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems and networks
• Experience working in an agile environment

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with EDI and financial transaction systems
• Experience testing MUMPS, VistA and other VA systems
