About The Position

Kennametal Inc. is seeking an Automated Machine Operator to join our team in New Market, VA. This position involves operating automated machines such as CNC or other machinery to manufacture company products. The operator will set up complex, customized production equipment and ensure the production of quality products at or below budgeted costs to meet marketplace demand. The role requires working on either the 2nd shift (2:45pm - 11:15pm) or the 3rd shift (10:45pm - 7:15am).

Requirements

• High School Degree.
• 1-3 years experience in machine operation.
• Vocational training or equivalent experience required.
• Technical school certification or completion of an Apprenticeship program preferred.
• Manufacturing experience of 1-3 years in automated/CNC work.

Nice To Haves

• Basic troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
• Ability to modify G code programs.
• Intermediate knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Knowledge of shop math, including geometry and conversions.

Responsibilities

• Manufactures sufficient quantities of quality products at or below budgeted production costs.
• Sets up equipment operation feed, speed, and temperature.
• Follows established procedures for operating various conventional and/or CNC manufacturing equipment.
• Selects and measures raw materials and parts to specifications.
• Resolves issues related to production, machinery, processing, and/or packaging operations.
• May include basic level programming.
• Sets up and operates machine tools such as mill-turns, mills, lathes, or grinders.
• Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
• Reads blueprints and checks work to various quality control gages.
• Moves all materials necessary to complete assignments.
• Performs inspection of machined products using precision gaging.
• Operates two or more CNC machines simultaneously.
• Performs specialized technical tasks required to support operations.
