In a team oriented work environment, under moderate supervision, the Autoclave Operator Technician II assists with the set up and operation of autoclaves and auxiliary equipment to cure and bond metallic, fiberglass and carbon fiber aircraft parts in a production environment. This role involves basic set up and operation of autoclaves and auxiliary equipment to cure and bond metallic and nonmetallic aircraft parts and assemblies according to Gulfstream specifications. The technician reads and interprets electronic travel documents and related paperwork, assists with the selection of parts and assemblies for simultaneous bonding based on processing requirements and autoclave capacity, and arranges bonding racks and tools for strategic loading into autoclaves. They connect thermocouples and vacuum lines, populate and confirm required information into the autoclave computerized operating system, and adjust manual controls or enter commands to regulate and activate autoclave power supply, cooling system, vacuum, heat, and pressure gauges and recorders. Monitoring instruments, switches, and recorders, and listening for warning signals during autoclave operation to ensure conformance to specifications are also key. The position requires maintaining a neat and orderly work area, supporting the company FOD and 5S program, and complying with all safety regulations. Additionally, the role includes retrieving lay-up tools from storage, prepping, releasing, and placing tools in the bond room for lay-up operation, breaking down and cleaning tools containing cured parts, storing cleaned tools in specified areas, and ensuring that parts, lab samples, and related paperwork are processed and taken to the proper location.
