Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's or technical degree in drafting, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years (preferably 3 years) of experience in AutoCAD drafting and CNC programming within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and CNC programming software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar); understanding of G-code and M-code for CNC machines.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, SDS2, or Tekla Structures or similar 3D modelling tools
  • familiarity with manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, or laser cutting
  • exposure to multiple CNC machine types (lathes, routers, plasma tables)

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics using AutoCAD based on engineering and design specifications.
  • Program CNC machines using CAM software (for example, Peddimat, Sicam, or alternatives) to drive the fabrication of components and parts.
  • Interpret technical drawings and translate them into CNC programs, verify accuracy through dry runs/simulations.
  • Modify existing CAD files and CNC programs as production demands, design changes, or manufacturing improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, machinists, and production staff to optimize designs for manufacturability and production flow.
  • Maintain organized records of all CAD files, CNC programs, and revision histories in compliance with industry and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with drafting standards, manufacturing processes, and safety regulations within the shop floor and office.
