About The Position

Working in close collaboration with the project design team, the AutoCAD Drafter owns the end-to-end production of precise 2D/3D drawings and complete plan sets from concept through as-built. Partnering closely with project engineers, architects, construction leads, and project managers, this role translates design intent into buildable documentation. The Drafter coordinates multi-discipline inputs (survey data, structural/MEP details, vendor information), incorporates redlines and field measurements, and delivers submittal-ready packages that meet schedule, client specifications, and permitting requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional drafting experience in architecture, civil/site, structural, MEP, or manufacturing environments
  • Certificate or AAS in Drafting/CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; familiarity with Civil 3D (surfaces, alignments, profiles, pipe networks) and/or Revit/Navisworks a plus
  • Solid understanding of drawing standards, scales, dimensions, and plotting/printing workflows; experience with Sheet Set Manager preferred
  • Bluebeam and basic PDF mark-up workflows; MicroStation or GIS familiarity a plus
  • Ability to interpret design notes, sketches, and specifications with strong attention to detail and organization
  • Clear, responsive communication skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Strong construction knowledge, with experience in Subcontract Management for a Contractor

Responsibilities

  • Drafting & Modeling: Produce and revise detailed technical drawings, floor plans, sections, details, and 2D/3D models in AutoCAD (and Civil 3D/Revit if applicable)
  • Design Translation: Convert conceptual sketches, markups, and specifications into accurate, buildable plans and sheet sets
  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, construction leads, and project managers to interpret design intent and coordinate multi-discipline inputs
  • Revision & Updates: Incorporate redlines, RFIs, field measurements, and change directives; maintain proper version control and revision logs
  • Standards & Compliance: Apply company CAD standards (layers, line weights, title blocks, CTB/STB), and ensure drawings align with applicable codes, permitting requirements, and industry regulations
  • Documentation: Generate supporting documents (legends, schedules, basic material lists/quantity tabulations) and assemble submittal-ready plan sets (PDFs/plots)
  • Site/Factory Visits (as needed): Perform basic field verification to capture dimensions and existing conditions for as-built updates
  • Quality & Problem-Solving: Flag constructability or coordination issues early and propose practical drafting solutions to improve clarity and efficiency
