About The Position

As a Mechanic Tech in our high production mechanic shop, you will support the mechanic shop by performing assigned diagnostic repair or maintenance on customer vehicles. This position reports to the Mechanic Shop or designated manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in automotive repair field
  • 2 ASE Certifications preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Hardworking, motivated team player
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license that meets the requirements
  • Able to safely drive a variety of make/model/sizes of vehicles
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance

Responsibilities

  • Operate the A/C & Heater system and recognize if the system is cooling or not, perform basic system checks such as power to compressor, visually inspect condenser, belt tension, etc., Identify Freon and oil leaks.
  • Identify components of brake system, visually inspect brakes, identify irregular noises and leaks, perform simple system tests, Measure lining, drums, rotors, cams. Road test for proper operation, Check fluid level, adjust service and park brakes and perform repair.
  • Visually inspect batteries, clean connections, Check condition of belts, Test batteries, Check alternator mounting and pulley, Replace and adjust belts, Perform basic charging system check.
  • Lubricate bearing, linkage, shafts, and cables, Identify proper clutch operation.
  • Check and adjust coolant levels, antifreezes (and requirements), Visually inspect system for leaks, Make minor repairs such as hose replacements, fan shrouds, fittings, Pressure test, Flush and refill systems.
  • Inspect/ test batteries, cables and motor, clean battery cables, connections and starter. Check, charge and replace batteries, Repair/replace defective cables, Read wiring schematics.
  • Repair minor wiring problems, replace bulbs, lenses and simple light assemblies. Adjust/replace sealed beams, Install/replace accessories (heated mirrors, fans, spotlights, etc.).
  • Inspect housings for leaks, change oil and filter and clean breathers.
  • Lubricate drive line, Inspect components for wear or damage.
  • Check and adjust oil levels, identify unusual noises, and oil leaks.
  • Replace and prime fuel filter, Check gas and diesel fuel system components such as fuel lines, pickup tubes, return lines, etc. for proper integrity and condition.
  • Proper lube techniques, Minimal tire inspection, Brake check/applied stroke, Battery check, under vehicle check/lose components, Initial Fault code identification.
  • Perform air pressure checks, Check tread depth, identify tires that need to be changed or repaired, perform tire Checks, replace tire and wheel assemblies, Mount/dismount and rotate tires.
  • Track and record vehicle information following department processes.
  • Assist in overall general shop duties such as cleaning, driving, organizing vehicle parking and staging, etc.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to internal and external customers. Maintain a professional appearance and neat work environment.
  • Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
