About The Position

LaPlante Home Services is looking for a highly skilled and reliable Auto Technician Fleet Mechanic. You'll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of our fleet vehicles, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet safety standards. You'll work on a variety of vehicles and equipment, from light-duty trucks to specialized service vehicles. The ideal candidate for this role must possess strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, skillful hands, and good physical stamina. ASE Certified Mechanic & ME Sticker License is a strong plus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' working experience in a similar role.
  • Safely operate heavy construction and repair equipment with proficiency and efficiency.
  • Locate, correct and adjust defects in complex automotive and mechanical equipment.
  • Adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair parts to specific repair problems.
  • Interpret and work from sketches and diagrams.
  • Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
  • Extremely organized with good communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday, normal business hours.
  • Willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certified Mechanic & ME Sticker License is a strong plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for needed repairs
  • perform minor repairs as required.
  • Lubricate automotive and power driven equipment with the use of air pressure and lubrication tools.
  • Drain and refill crankcases
  • inspect and fill gearboxes with lubricants
  • replace lubricant fittings
  • maintain lubrication records
  • maintain lubrication stock and replace as necessary.
  • Inspect, charge, and replace batteries.
  • Change and repair tires on light and heavy equipment.
  • Wash and otherwise keep shop and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
  • Make minor mechanical adjustments to automotive and other power-driven equipment.
  • Maintain necessary records of time, materials, and parts used.
  • All aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair such as: pack and replace wheel bearings, replace shock absorbers, fan belts, radiator hoses, and u-joints, perform general tune up and repair work on automobiles, inspect and adjust/replace necessary units and parts including cooling & fuel and exhaust components, etc.
  • Repair and overhaul brakes, ignition systems, electrical systems, transmission, differentials, and hydraulic systems
  • inspect, repair, overhaul and assemble automotive electrical equipment such as generators, distributors, magnetos and starters.
  • Perform inspections of automotive or mechanical equipment to determine repair needs of estimate cost of repairs
  • perform occasional metal work by cutting, welding other procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
