About The Position

This position will build confidence, experience and skills by performing repairs and/or maintenance assigned by a service advisor or manager, under the direct supervision of an assigned Mentor. Candidate will be responsible for following instructions of their Mentor, while completing technical service and/or repair to assigned vehicles, ensuring the highest quality of service or repair. The position will have the use of shop supplied, mentor or own tools necessary in order to perform technical service or repair as assigned. In addition candidate will trained on the usage of shop supplied diagnostic and service equipment.

Requirements

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in the language(s) required for the role, as justified by business necessity.
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as necessitated by the business need.
  • Math and computer skills with experience using software applications, including word processing, browsers and email.
  • Good Understanding of automotive systems and tools needed for repairs.
  • Ability to drive vehicles equipped with manual transmissions.
  • Focus on Member Service.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Graduate or an advanced level student of an accredited Automotive Repair School.
  • Two (2) years’ experience as a Lube Technician or General Service Technician can be substituted in lieu of automotive education.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, reaching, lifting, climbing ladders
  • Exposure to loud noises

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the mentor, performs work assigned as indicated on repair orders.
  • Performs digital inspections and fully documents, notating all pertinent information into shop inspection or management system, attaching all photo(s) or video(s) to illustrate repairs or needs to the inspection
  • All repairs are performed in accordance with accepted industry standard procedures
  • Test drives all vehicles when practical for any/all performance or drivability concerns before performing service or repairs
  • Re-test drives vehicles after repairs completed to verify the repair solved defined problem
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Follows all company and governmental safety rules and regulations
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment (cleaning spills or debris immediately to reduce hazards)
  • Maintains in good working order all company supplied equipment and machinery
  • Maintains customer vehicles regarding cleanliness and does not make any adjustments to the customers preferred adjusted settings within the vehicle
  • Will be periodically tested or evaluated by assigned Mentor or Manager
  • Apprentice goal is to achieve Repair Technician I status or progressing to Repair Technician II and/or III at AAA
  • Candidates are expected to test and achieve Repair Technician I status within Twelve (12) months of start date.
  • Candidate(s) that demonstrate sufficient progress and potential may be eligible to continue on in the program to qualify for Repair Technician II or higher.
