About The Position

The Auto Property Damage Claims Adjuster is responsible for the
evaluation, negotiation and settlement of auto, truck, and other material and
physical damage claims for Canal Insurance Company.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required.
• Adjuster’s license required.
• Minimum of five years auto property heavy equipment damage adjusting or repair experience required.
• Familiarity with basic insurance and tort law as well as understanding of basic legal principles and terminology as it relates to insurance operations preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail) required.

Responsibilities

• Document information, investigate, verify coverage, and make decisions consistent with local laws and claims practices.
• Appraise, evaluate, and handle automobile, heavy truck, trailer, and equipment damage claims, including total losses, to conclusion within authority.
• Communicate and negotiate with interested parties as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain financials including reserves, payments and resolution of claims without payments.
• Monitor, with management consent, approved external vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
