About The Position

The Auto Painter Helper position at Caliber Collision involves preparing vehicles for refinishing and reassembly, supporting Paint Technicians in their tasks, and ensuring quality standards are met throughout the painting process. This role requires active participation in safety meetings and adherence to OSHA guidelines, while also maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Auto Body Vo-Tech certificate strongly preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with others.
• Ability to read and understand basic instructions, written estimates, and work orders.
• Multi-tasking ability and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Complete all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to factory specifications.
• Assist Paint Technician in preparing spray-out panels to determine blend needs.
• Help in sanding and buffing to ensure the paint finish meets quality standards.
• Participate in morning board meetings to discuss the status of assigned vehicles.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and utilize required safety equipment.
• Adhere to hazardous waste disposal requirements.
• Maintain tools and equipment, including the paint booth and filters.
• Utilize air sanders, spray guns, and sanding blocks to complete quality work.
• Review estimates to ensure all operations listed have been completed.
• Clean, wax, polish, and refurbish vehicles as needed.
• Verify repaired areas are finished to Caliber standards.
• Identify areas requiring additional corrosion protection.
• Ensure all paint operations are complete and all masking is removed before returning vehicles to body technicians.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
