About The Position

The Auto Painter Helper at Caliber Collision is responsible for preparing vehicles for refinishing and reassembly processes while supporting Paint Technicians in their tasks. This entry-level position involves various paint preparation duties, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Auto Body Vo-Tech certificate strongly preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with others.
• Ability to read and understand basic instructions, written estimates, and work orders.
• Multi-tasking skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Complete all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to factory specifications.
• Assist Paint Technician in preparing spray-out panels to determine blend needs.
• Help in sanding and buffing to ensure the paint finish meets quality standards.
• Participate in morning board meetings to discuss the status of assigned vehicles.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and utilize required safety equipment.
• Adhere to hazardous waste disposal requirements.
• Maintain tools and equipment, including the paint booth and filters.
• Utilize air sanders, spray guns, and sanding blocks to complete quality work.
• Review estimates to ensure all operations listed have been completed.
• Clean, wax, polish, and refurbish vehicles as needed.
• Verify repaired areas are finished to Caliber standards.
• Identify areas requiring additional corrosion protection.
• Ensure all paint operations are complete and all masking is removed before returning vehicles.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
