Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Performs all major repair work and replacement of defective parts on automobiles and other motorized equipment such as compressors, trucks, and pumps, etc. Must drive heavy automotive equipment and operate power equipment, including but not limited to payloader and forklift, and perform towing and recovering services as, needed. Maintains the ability to operate New Jersey Emission Machine. Prepares and submits necessary records in connection with work performed. Operates usual business machines. May perform welding and/or hot work task, as assigned. Eligible to sub-up to perform leadership duties in absence of the Transportations Leader per Union Seniority list for the Department. Perform other similar or less skilled work, as assigned. Assists employees of a higher classification, as assigned. Qualifications Education/Experience/Background: High School Diploma/GED required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Maintain ability to properly diagnose vehicles through visual and audio inspections. Required Certification/Licenses/Training: State Inspector, A/C Certification and Air Brake Certification is required. Must possess a valid State Vehicle operator's license with CDL Class B Air Brakes with tanker endorsement, or start the process within the first 6 months of starting the role and obtain it within the first year, unless otherwise discussed with Management and Union. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs. Must have physical ability to crawl. Additional Information Pay Rate: $48.21 per hour.
