This position is responsible for vehicle maintenance and repair, completing work orders, providing emergency roadside service, and welding and burning. Requirements

  • Requires five years of related experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of vocational training in automotive mechanics or a related field.
  • A valid state commercial driver’s license is required, with the ability to meet minimum driving standards.
  • Basic financial accountability for tools, materials, and supplies.
  • Mathematical skills including basic arithmetic and percentage calculations.
  • Responsibility for decisions that affect coworkers and customers.
  • Judgment in tool and equipment use and maintenance decisions.
  • Data collection and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and charts, complete forms, and communicate clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities within established systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and necessary repairs on vehicles and equipment, including engines, transmissions, differentials, brake systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance such as oil changes, spark plug and brake pad replacements, and tire rotations.
  • Respond to emergency roadside assistance calls for disabled vehicles.
  • Install, inspect, and repair electrical components.
  • Fabricate and replace hydraulic hoses; perform welding and burning tasks.
  • Repair damaged metal parts using welding equipment; grind or chip off excess weld or slag.
  • Test-drive vehicles to diagnose issues and confirm proper functioning after repairs.
  • Document maintenance and repairs, time taken, and parts used on work orders.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform upkeep on shop equipment.
