About The Position

The Auto Glass / Flat Glass Technician is responsible for the repair, replacement, cutting, and installation of automotive and flat glass products for residential, commercial, and vehicle applications. This role performs auto glass replacements and repairs, as well as residential and commercial flat glass installations, using proper tools, materials, and methods to ensure quality workmanship. The Technician is expected to work independently, maintain high safety and quality standards, interact professionally with customers, and contribute to team success while complying with all Speedy Glass (Fix Network) safety policies and procedure guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proven experience as an Auto Glass Technician, Flat Glass Technician, or combined glazing role.
  • Strong knowledge of auto glass replacement and flat glass installation techniques.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs periodically and 35 lbs routinely, including occasional overhead lifting and work from elevated job sites.
  • Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform windshield and vehicle glass repairs and replacements.
  • Complete and review damage reports prior to glass installation.
  • Remove all dirt, debris, and loose glass prior to installation.
  • Prime scratches and prepare surfaces according to procedures.
  • Inspect glass products for damage or defects prior to installation.
  • Select appropriate tools, safety equipment, and materials for each job.
  • Replace moldings, clips, windshield wipers, and other related components.
  • Replace or adjust manual and motorized window mechanisms.
  • Ensure the appearance and cleanliness of customer vehicles after service.
  • Maintain the appearance and serviceability of the shop and/or mobile service vehicle.
  • Install and repair residential glass, including insulated glass units, single-pane glass, mirrors, shower enclosures, vinyl and wood windows, patio doors, skylights, table tops, railings, and screens.
  • Perform commercial glass installation and repair, including storefront systems, glass entry doors, commercial door hardware (closers, thresholds, sweeps, hinges, and locking systems).
  • Cut flat safety glass and perform precision pattern making and glass cutting for custom installations.
  • Cut mirrors, picture frame glass, plexiglass, lexan, Neo-Ceram fireplace glass, and screen material to specified patterns.
  • Install shower enclosures, custom mirrors, and vinyl windows at customer job sites.
  • Rebuild and replace screen units.
  • Ensure finished work meets quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
