About The Position

Assists in the process of prepping vehicles for further processing through shredding operation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs and 100+lbs on 2-person lift.
• If role involves help with facility incoming material inspection, must be able to effectively interact with customers and vendors.
• Individual must be willing to learn, be adaptable and be a self-motivated.

Nice To Haves

• Prior automotive experience and/or salvage yard experience preferred.
• Prior experience operating equipment including forklifts, wheel loaders, bobcats, etc. is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspects equipment to ensure it is safe and in working condition
• Drains all liquids in vehicles to appropriate receptacles
• Removes mercury switches & puts in appropriate receptacles
• Assists in placing vehicles within the facility for auto de-man processing and upon completion for further processing thru shredder
• May use power and hydraulic tools to remove auto parts
• Assists in cleaning and maintaining de-man area and equipment
• Removes tires and rims
• Removes battery and stores in appropriate location
• Removes catalytic converter and places in designated bin. May transfer bin when full to other location within facility
• Observes vehicle and removes any nonconforming materials such as tanks, fire extinguishers, solids, etc. Places nonconforming materials in designated locations
• May operate forklift
• Performs basic maintenance on machinery
• Follows all safety and environmental processes
• May assist in laborer level work within other areas of facility
• Other responsibilities as assigned
