About The Position

The AutoCAD Drafter position at Skyline/Champion involves creating detailed construction drawings and models for manufactured homes. The role requires discretion and judgment in drafting designs based on specifications and engineering data, ensuring compliance with building codes, and collaborating with production and quality control teams.

Requirements

• Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school with advanced training in AutoCAD or equivalent work experience.
• 2-5 years of work experience using AutoCAD software (2015 or higher).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work as a team player and be a quick learner.

Responsibilities

• Create designs from rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from Sales and customers.
• Draft detailed construction drawings and installations such as walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, and foundations.
• Use computer-assisted design (CAD) equipment and software to create detailed drawings.
• Draft limited approvals and submit to sales and third-party agencies.
• Familiarize with commercial and residential building codes in the US.
• Confer with Production and Quality Control staff to resolve design details or problems.
• Lay out, redesign, and modify home arrangements and interconnections of components and systems.
• Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Generate calculations for analysis of selected designs using approved software.
• Submit drawings to third-party agencies for approval.
