About The Position

The Auto Body Apprentice at Caliber Collision is responsible for assisting in the repair of vehicles in accordance with industry standards and company guidelines. This entry-level position focuses on learning the repair process while ensuring safety and efficiency in the shop environment. The apprentice will work closely with Body Technicians to complete dis-assembly, assess damage, and prepare vehicles for repair, contributing to a team-driven culture that emphasizes quality and customer service.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and eligibility for coverage under Caliber's insurance policy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, written estimates, and work orders.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt easily to a fast-paced environment.
  • Personable and friendly demeanor with a customer service approach.
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance.

Responsibilities

  • Complete dis-assembly of vehicles to assist Service Advisors with preparing a 100% Repair Plan.
  • Ensure all needed repairs are identified to eliminate supplements and minimize repair time.
  • Plan work procedures by following work orders for all operations listed.
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, and equipment to gain access to damaged areas of vehicles as needed.
  • Store parts on carts or cover them to eliminate potential damage.
  • Mend damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools such as welders, cutting torches, and spray guns.
  • Fill depressions with body filler and remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills.
  • Reassemble vehicles after parts are painted, ensuring all gaps and fits meet industry standards.
  • Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles to check for compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Assist Service Advisors in assessing damage to vehicles prior to repair.
  • Comply with all Caliber safety rules, guidelines, and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including washing cars and cleaning the shop.
