About The Position

The Creekside School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) who present with moderate to severe behavioral challenges in a structured school-based setting. This role is ideal for someone experienced, patient, and committed to helping students thrive both academically and socially. You will work closely with Special Educators and school-based service providers to support students through individualized education and behavior plans that promote growth, independence, and emotional regulation.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years experience working with students on the autism spectrum and/or moderate to severe behavioral challenges in a school setting (required)
Strong understanding of behavior strategies and structured classroom support
Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in high-intensity situations
Team-oriented, reliable, and proactive
High School Diploma required

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Instructional Assistant, or Paraprofessional preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

Support students with autism and moderate to severe behavioral needs in a school setting
Implement IEPs, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and classroom supports
Use evidence-based strategies to support communication, regulation, and engagement
Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
Build strong, trusting relationships with students
Assist with classroom activities and community-based instruction
