Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and coding (CPT, ICD-10 is a plus)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service and computer skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Friendly, personable demeanor
  • Detail oriented

Responsibilities

  • Obtain pre-certifications, prior-authorizations, and referrals for patient procedures, surgeries, and treatments as required by insurance providers.
  • Review patient coverage and communicate with insurance companies, healthcare providers and patients to gather necessary information for the authorization process.
  • Track and follow up on pending authorizations, ensuring approvals are received in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all authorization requests, approvals, denials and related correspondence.
  • Investigate and resolve authorization issues, appeal denied requestions when appropriate and documents the appeals process.
  • Help to educate the patient on the authorization process and act as a liaison between patient and insurance companies.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and protect patient confidentiality.
