About The Position

The Authorization Specialist I is responsible for securing medical authorizations from third party payers, including both commercial and government entities, for post-acute services. This role is crucial in obtaining written documentation, tracking, prioritizing, and reporting the outcomes of each authorization request. The specialist will communicate with patients, employees, and vendors regarding services, assisting patients and their families in understanding authorizations and eligibility. Additionally, the specialist will check eligibility for all payor types and assume responsibility for all patient authorizations, ensuring accurate collection and recording of patient information. The role requires adherence to agency policies and procedures, with a focus on continual improvement of practices while following all legal rules and regulations. Other relevant tasks may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• 6+ months of work experience in an administrative/customer service role.

Nice To Haves

• Laboratory or physician office or clinic experience
• Medical terminology experience
• Experience performing healthcare patient registration.
