Under general supervision, this position assists in general administrative or research functions to develop a working knowledge of a targeted area in municipal government. Job Description: Purpose: Under general supervision, this position assists in general administrative or research functions to develop a working knowledge of a targeted area in municipal government. Observes and assists professionals in the assigned department to learn about areas of career interest. Assists, as necessary, in the coordination, administration, or monitoring of specific programs. Assists, as necessary, with researching, collecting and organizing data, performing analyses, and preparing reports to supplement knowledge gained through academic courses. Participates, as necessary, in finding solutions to existing problems and discusses recommendations with administrative personnel to acquire skills in problem solving. Assists with special projects. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent. Enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate degree program, with some advanced coursework related to the internship program. Licenses and Certifications Required: None. Notes to Candidate: Austin Water is seeking two civil, environmental, or chemical engineering students to join the Facility Engineering Division. Facility Engineering is primarily responsible for scoping and delivering Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Projects at our treatment facilities. The purpose of this position is to perform duties to support Austin Water’s Facility Engineering Division, including various engineering and technical tasks as assigned. Examples of potential tasks include: Reviewing CIP deliverables including engineering plan sets, preliminary engineering reports, opinion of probable costs, schedule of values, warranty sheets, as-builts, etc. Assist with drafting and updating standard CIP documents Assist with data entry from CIP deliverables, field visits, and data analysis Assist with file storage and records keeping management Assist with developing tools to plan future CIP projects Pay Rate: $22.05 per hour.
