Job Description: Purpose: Under general supervision, this position assists in general administrative or research functions to develop a working knowledge of a targeted area in municipal government. Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Observes and assists professionals in the assigned department to learn about areas of career interest. Assists, as necessary, in the coordination, administration, or monitoring of specific programs. Assists, as necessary, with researching, collecting and organizing data, performing analyses, and preparing reports to supplement knowledge gained through academic courses. Participates, as necessary, in finding solutions to existing problems and discusses recommendations with administrative personnel to acquire skills in problem solving. Assists with special projects. POSITION OVERVIEW: The internship role will support the AUS Community Affairs team. This team serves as a direct connection between the community and airport issues, working collaboratively with all divisions on outreach and engagement efforts. Community Affairs can assist with speaking requests, groups wanting to be involved with airport activities, and anyone looking for partner with AUS. In this role, you will have the opportunity to create and participate in the following areas: Graphic Design Support: Create visually appealing graphics and promotional materials using design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite or similar to support community outreach campaigns, social media content, and event promotions. Event Coordination and Planning: Assist in the logistical planning and execution of community events, tours, and programs, including setting up materials, and ensuring smooth on-site operations. Communications Assistance: Contribute to the development of engaging content for newsletters, social media posts, and other public communications to highlight community initiatives and airport events. Research and Analysis: Conduct research to gather insights on community trends, evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts, and provide recommendations for future programs and initiatives. Program Coordination: Support the implementation of school outreach programs, career days, and tours, helping to foster relationships with local educational institutions and non-profit organizations. Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance, including scheduling meetings, maintaining contact lists, and preparing reports related to community engagement activities.
