About The Position

This role will primarily perform routine audit / SOX responsibilities. In addition, this role will participate in and support the audit function for non-SOX areas, project and process improvement efforts, research and analysis, and other tasks as assigned for both SOX and non-SOX areas. A successful individual in this position is detail oriented, balances priorities, continuously works to optimize process, seeks to learn new concepts or skills, and keeps stakeholders informed. The ideal candidate brings recent audit experience and a working knowledge of audit methodology, including risk assessment, testing, and workpaper documentation.

Requirements

  • Competent computer literacy
  • Working knowledge of common business applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Competent with Accounting, Auditing, or Finance applications and analytical tools including Power BI, Alteryx, etc.
  • Ability to adopt new and changing systems and applications
  • Increases knowledge of active applications and systems to drive efficiency and automation
  • Basic understanding of US GAAP, SOX 404 control procedures and audit techniques, with demonstrated experience applying audit methodology
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field of study
  • Minimum 2+ years of audit experience required (6+ years in lieu of education)

  • APA, CIA, CFE, CGMA or other relevant professional certifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare routine and recurring testing work papers and documentation to support audit activities
  • Support the audit function for complex, non-routine transactions
  • Gather support / evidence from Process and Control owner to perform walkthroughs and testing for SOX purposes
  • Understand, update, and recommend improvements to the internal control structure
  • Apply basic accounting, finance, audit, and/or process knowledge within job responsibilities
  • Assist the accounting / finance functions and external auditors as part of the annual audit process and quarterly review process
  • Participate in departmental projects
  • Identify & recommend best practices and improvements to processes within area of responsibility
  • Track and analyze individual and process performance metrics
  • Willingness to learn oil and gas industry concepts as applicable to responsibilities
  • Other general duties as assigned
