About The Position

The Auditor 9-12 position within the CMH Compliance Review Section at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is responsible for conducting financial and compliance audits of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) and other agencies funded by MDHHS. The role involves reviewing reports for compliance with contract provisions, providing technical assistance, and drafting management decisions based on findings. The position also includes responsibilities for updating compliance guidelines and occasionally reviewing audit reports from other agencies.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester credits in accounting.
  • Auditor 9: No specific experience required.
  • Auditor 10: One year of professional auditing experience equivalent to Auditor 9.
  • Auditor P11: Two years of professional auditing experience, including one year equivalent to Auditor 10.
  • Auditor 12: Three years of professional auditing experience, including one year equivalent to Auditor P11.
  • Possession of CPA, CMA, CIA, or CISA certifications may substitute for experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Community Mental Health providers and/or Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs).
  • Familiarity with electronic workpaper applications (e.g., TeamMate).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial and compliance audits of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs).
  • Review financial reports and compliance examination reports for adherence to contract provisions and guidelines.
  • Draft management decisions based on audit findings.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding compliance examination requirements.
  • Review and update Department-published guidelines for compliance examinations of CCBHCs.
  • Occasionally review audit reports from other agencies for compliance with MDHHS guidelines.
