About The Position

SafeGuard Services (SGS), a subsidiary of Peraton, performs data analysis, investigation, and medical review to detect, prevent, deter, reduce, and make referrals to recover fraud, waste, and abuse. We are looking to add an Audit Specialist to our SGS team of talented professionals. The MCP Audit Support Specialist provides operational, administrative, and audit execution support to the Managed Care Plan (MCP) audit program. This role supports the end-to-end audit lifecycle by assisting with audit testing activities, coordinating documentation, tracking requests, and ensuring audit work is completed in accordance with CMS requirements, internal methodologies, and regulatory timelines.

Requirements

  • 4 years with AS/AA; 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with High School
  • 2+ years of related experience in finance, accounting or audit.
  • Intermediate knowledge of internal audit policies and operating principles.
  • Intermediate understanding of Medicare/Medicaid or healthcare auditing and their revenue cycles.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • US citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in finance, accounting or related field preferred.
  • Intermediate financial and business acumen.
  • Basic project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist audit team with audit controls testing, process evaluation, and risk analysis.
  • Help review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and alignment to audit criteria.
  • Support preparation of audit findings, summaries, and analysis.
  • Help maintain audit trackers, status logs, and dashboards.
  • Support coordination across Data, Policy, Statistical, and Medical Review teams.
  • Assist with task scheduling and milestone tracking.
  • Assist with audit exhibits, request letters, and document requests.
  • Aid with follow-up activities for missing or late submissions from MCPs.
  • Ensure documentation is audit-ready, properly labeled, and organized.
  • Identify process gaps or risks and escalate to leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement of audit workflows.
  • Assist with the documentation of standard operating procedures.
