Job Description: While this posting reflects our Chicago headquarters as the main location, we have offices throughout the U.S., and your actual location preference will be taken into account during the recruiting process. Crowe’s Audit IT Assurance group offers two alignments within the practice, depending on your educational background: 1) Accounting/CPA-track, or 2) Technical. We will determine your alignment during the interview process. While all positions fall within the same practice under the Audit IT Assurance umbrella, we align those with more technical majors (ex: MIS, cybersecurity, digital security, computer science, etc.) under the Technical track. For those pursuing both accounting/CPA-track and technical majors, again, we will determine the best alignment during the interview process. Finance, Accounting, CPA-Track Majors During your internship, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with client leadership, understand the IT environments that are transforming the way we do business today, and help provide assurance that controls are operating the way they should. From day one, you will be a part of a team that is looking to transform the way we perform audits through the use of technology, learn about industry standards that help define and secure our clients’ control environments, and make recommendations to help them maintain compliance with applicable standards as required within the industry they operate. Technical Majors Joining Crowe’s IT Assurance practice is an opportunity to interact with client leadership, understand the IT environments that are transforming the way we do business today, and help provide assurance that controls are operating the way they should. As technology continues to be the key and ever-advancing driver for businesses and their customers, the need for assurance over IT security and controls continues to be on the rise. Crowe’s IT Assurance team meets these challenges through the following industry solutions: Payment Card Industry (PCI) Consulting & Compliance HITRUST Consulting & Compliance Systems and Organization Controls (SOC) Consulting & Assurance Cybersecurity Consulting & Assurance products

Requirements

  • We are seeking college sophomores and juniors for the internship, pursuing degrees in one of the following preferred majors (or similar): Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration Information Systems Auditing and Control Management/Computer Information Systems Informatics
  • A focus on IT auditing, security, and/or specific technologies would be beneficial but is not required
  • Candidates must: Have strong academic credentials
  • CPA Eligibility: You must be scheduled to meet the educational requirements to obtain a CPA license. Prior to starting full-time, new hires must fulfill the education-related eligibility criteria to obtain a CPA license in their assigned Crowe work location. These requirements vary by state, and it is the new hire’s responsibility to ensure that they satisfy the applicable criteria prior to starting with the firm.
  • Be willing to travel
  • Have a desire to continue personal growth through continuing professional education, self-study, and pursuit of accounting and audit certifications
  • Be capable of independently managing time and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences, such as company officers (CEOs, CIOs, CFOs, COOs) and Audit Committees

Responsibilities

  • Planning and performance of assessment fieldwork and review of evidence to support the conclusions of the client’s IT environment
  • Assistance in the preparation of client deliverables
  • Advising clients on changes to their operating and IT environment
  • Maintaining relationships with key client personnel
  • Consulting with management of large organizations
