About The Position

The position is located at the Pediatric ENT Clinic in McAllen, TX, with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. The general purpose of the job is to provide support to the DCH Audiology staff in delivering audiology care, dispensing hearing aids, and managing the newborn hearing screening program. The role requires maintaining confidentiality, adhering to hospital policies, and demonstrating ethical business practices. The individual will assist audiologists during assessments, maintain stock levels, ensure cleanliness of work areas, and support clerical duties. The position also involves performing hearing screenings, managing hearing aids, and participating in community outreach and departmental meetings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college completion preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a health care setting preferred.
  • Current Texas License as an Audiology Assistant, or eligibility to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Completion of the CAOHC course and examination.
  • Current CPR certification or completion within 90 days upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs while supporting the audiologist(s) during audiometric assessments.
  • Assist with setup and technical tasks for audiology care.
  • Maintain stock levels in the audiology clinical areas.
  • Support clerical and organizational duties as needed.
  • Ensure work areas are clean and ready for patient care.
  • Ensure equipment is in working order and calibrations are current.
  • Assist with case histories and complete pure tone hearing screenings.
  • Perform tympanometric screenings and otoacoustic emission screening procedures.
  • Complete non-diagnostic otoscopy.
  • Manage hearing aids by performing checks, minor repairs, and cleaning.
  • Prepare materials for ear molds and complete newborn hearing screenings.
  • Comply with clinical documentation requirements.
  • Participate in patient care related team meetings and departmental meetings.
  • Engage in process improvement and community outreach.
  • Maintain billable productivity levels as required.
  • Provide Holiday/Weekend on-call coverage as needed.
  • Demonstrate understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Use computer/software applications required for the job.
  • Support purchasing needs within the audiology department.
  • Comply with infection control responsibilities.
  • Occasionally drive for Driscoll Children’s Hospital business.
  • Demonstrate flexibility regarding departmental scheduling needs.
