The audiology assistant demonstrates basic knowledge of pediatric growth and development is able to recognize deviations from the norm and is competent in administering a variety of assessment tools under the supervision of an audiologist. The assistant performs approved duties such as completion of Ohio Department of Health infant hearing screenings, completing the paperwork for ODH hearing screenings, preparing hearing aids prior to fitting, troubleshooting hearing aids, sending aids in for repair and assisting with audiology procedures that require two people. The Aide updates the NOAH hearing aid software and manages the calibration of the ALGO software. The Audiology Aide may also check inventory and order supplies for audiology. Additionally, the Aide may also perform office duties such as mailing, filing, scheduling,, registration and obtaining insurance authorization/scripts for services. All testing and hearing aid maintenance is performed under the supervision of a managing audiologist. Department Specific Job Details: An Audiology Aide must have a high school diploma/ GED. The Audiology Aide position requires a State of Ohio Audiology Aide license. To obtain this Audiology Aide license, the Dayton Children’s Audiology Department will provide the necessary training and clinical supervision.
