About The Position

Virginia Eye Institute is seeking a full-time audiologist to join The Hearing Center team in the Richmond, Virginia area. VEI is a multispecialty medical practice that has served the community for more than 50 years. Our practice includes a collaborative team of ophthalmologists, optometrists, audiologists, and other healthcare professionals dedicated to delivering high quality, patient centered care. The Hearing Center at VEI is continuing to grow, creating an exciting opportunity for an audiologist interested in helping expand and shape hearing care services. This position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative clinical environment supported by a strong internal referral network. The role allows the audiologist to build meaningful patient relationships while practicing within a physician supported medical setting. Job Purpose To provide comprehensive, patient focused hearing care by evaluating hearing needs, identifying hearing loss, recommending appropriate treatment options, and supporting patients through device fitting, education, and ongoing care.

  • Doctoral degree in Audiology preferred
  • Master’s degree in Audiology required
  • Current Virginia audiology and hearing aid dispensing licensure, or eligibility for licensure, required.
  • Ability to work across multiple office locations as needed.
  • Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time throughout the day when required.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and reach frequently while performing hearing evaluations, otoscopy, and hearing aid fittings.
  • Ability to use both hands with good manual dexterity to perform patient evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and related clinical tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of clinical experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive hearing evaluations and determine treatment recommendations, including hearing aids, assistive listening devices, hearing protection and referrals when indicated.
  • Perform otoscopy and evaluate ear canal conditions to identify concerns that may require a medical referral.
  • Provide cerumen removal to support accurate testing, ear impressions, and hearing aid fittings.
  • Recommend, select, program, and fit hearing aids based on each patient’s hearing needs, lifestyle, and communication goals.
  • Take ear impressions for custom hearing protection and custom earmolds.
  • Perform real ear measurements to verify hearing aid performance and support appropriate fitting outcomes.
  • Educate patients and family members on hearing loss, treatment options, device use, care, and communication strategies.
  • Provide ongoing patient support and follow up care to monitor progress and address hearing concerns over time.
  • Provide troubleshooting, minor repairs, and routine maintenance for hearing aids and related devices.
  • Collaborate with physicians, and other clinical staff to support patient centered care.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referring providers and internal clinical teams.
  • Stay current with advancements in audiology, hearing aid technology, and best practices in patient care.
  • Participate in community outreach to promote hearing health awareness and support the growth of The Hearing Center.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and workflow optimization efforts.
  • Support the growth and success of The Hearing Center at VEI through excellent service, teamwork, and patient satisfaction.
