About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Audiologist will conduct an audiology clinic two times per month. The audiologist will be responsible for conducting the necessary tests and reporting for those patients that have hearing-related issues.

Requirements

  • Must have a Doctoral Degree in Audiology
  • Experience: One (1) year direct work experience in a clinical setting as an Audiologist
  • Complete the credentialing process with WCHS-Twelve Clans Unity Hospital
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Pass a federal background check
  • Excellent bedside manner to effectively counsel patients and family members on treatment plans and to foster a positive doctor-patient relationship
  • Good communication abilities to explain complex treatments and conditions to patients in a language they understand
  • Strong time management skills that allow the Audiologist to successfully manage their schedule and see patients in a timely manner
  • A commitment to staying up to date on the latest audiology-related research to provide patients with the best solutions available
  • Compassion to more effectively relate to patients and understand the impact that the patient’s condition is having on their life
  • Must have advanced computer skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Publisher
  • Must possess grammatical competence
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently, to work under supervision, and to work in a team based and goal-oriented environment
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills
  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients with ear, hearing or balance and other related problems
  • Assess exam results and diagnose the patients
  • Determine the best course of treatment, taking the patient’s needs and concerns into consideration
  • Fit and dispense hearing aids
  • Provide counseling for the patient and close family members on how to best listen and communicate using methods such as lip reading or technology
  • Evaluate and follow up on the patient’s condition and record any developments
  • Educate patients on ways to prevent hearing loss
  • Research causes and potential treatments for hearing and balance disorders
