About The Position

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is looking for a full-time Audiologist. The position involves providing comprehensive evaluative, rehabilitative, preventative, and referral services for patients concerned about hearing loss on an inpatient, outpatient, homecare, and contract basis. The Audiologist will instruct patients, families, and other support personnel in rehabilitative/habilitative measures, monitor patients' progress, and maintain clinical records. The incumbent is expected to function independently and perform other similar and related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Audiology (Doctorate preferred).
  • Massachusetts Audiologist Licensure.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA.
  • American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
  • Experience with pediatrics, cochlear implants and ABR testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, evaluates, treats and follows up clients on an inpatient, outpatient, homecare and contract basis as assigned.
  • Provides age-appropriate care to patients, demonstrating knowledge of developmental stages for various age groups.
  • Evaluates the appropriateness of diagnostic and therapeutic materials and equipment, contributing to purchasing decisions.
  • Determines appropriate plans for clients and recommendations for continued care.
  • Counsels clients, families and others regarding understanding and assisting in the identification and treatment of hearing impairment.
  • Encourages and maintains cooperation with other professionals, agencies and services.
  • Completes necessary documentation to comply with professional standards and department procedures.
  • Provides information and consultation to patients, families, care partners and other healthcare personnel involved with patient management.
  • Participates actively in the departmental team and other teams involved with clients.
  • Supervises volunteers, students, and interns as directed.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
  • Completes department operational procedures, including scheduling, billing, equipment usage, and time off requests.
  • Demonstrates relevant knowledge and application of clinical skills in evaluation, treatment and counseling.
  • Meets productivity expectations as determined by the department standards.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Conveys information obtained from continuing education programs to team members.
  • Adheres to the ASHA Code of ethics and follows hospital and departmental policies.
  • Competence in at least one higher level audiology skill such as ABR under natural sleep or anesthesia.
  • Provides additional support to the department through involvement in ordering supplies and consulting on department projects.
