About The Position

In this role you will partner with the rest of the clinical team to provide patients the highest quality of care. In this role, the vestibular Audiologist, under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director of Audiology and Section Administrator (BSD), provides Audiology services (consultation, evaluation, and therapy) in an acute care hospital and clinical outpatient setting for children with hearing and balance disorders. Provides prompt and efficient attention to patient needs. Manages and performs administrative duties related to clinical role. Effectively manages entry level volumes of patients with basic hearing needs. The dizziness and hearing clinic at UChicago Medicine is led by a multidisciplinary team that provides high-quality dizziness evaluation and treatment for adults. We offer state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment. Our team combines otoneurologists, otologists (ENT) and audiologists to diagnose and manage dizziness and hearing issues.

Requirements

• Doctor of Audiology (AuD or PhD) degree from an accredited educational body.
• Completion of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or ABA Certificate of Clinical Competence.
• Hold or be able to obtain an Illinois Department of Professional Regulation License for Audiology.

Nice To Haves

• 1 or more years' experience as a clinical audiologist, with robust experience in adult vestibular evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audiology/vestibular testing.
• Perform basic diagnostic evaluation of the functional status of the peripheral auditory system in adults and interpret these results.
• Conduct vestibular evaluations, treatment and rehabilitation.
• Perform electrophysiologic evaluation of the functional status of the peripheral and central auditory systems and interpret these results.
• Review test results with the patient and their family, including patient education, counseling and appropriate referrals.
• Write reports of audiologic test results and recommendations.
• Discuss audiologic test results and recommendations with OHNS attending and resident staff.
• Maintain written documentation of transactions regarding the patient.
• Attend regular Audiology and Interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Schedule appointments in EPIC and inform patients of special instructions.
• Complete and submit charge forms for each patient seen.
• Participate in UCH Studies when appropriate.
• Maintain Audiology files with patient audiograms and hearing aid or other reports.
• Participate in continuing education courses/seminars/workshops.
• Provide patient education to the patient and their family.
• Confirm appointments and review instructions for managed care.
• Maintain Clinic appearance and follow all appropriate hospital patient care, regulatory, and administrative policies.
• Provide presentations/in-services to colleagues or UCM residents once per year.
