Organization: Audiology - Cochlear Implant Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY Evaluates, treats and counsels patients with hearing disorders to improve communication function through use of cochlear implants. Initiates collaboration with health care team to meet patient care, outcomes and system improvement objectives. . What You’ll Do In this specialized clinical role, you will provide advanced audiologic care to pediatric and adult cochlear implant patients while working with all three major cochlear implant manufacturers (Cochlear, MED‑EL, Advanced Bionics). Key responsibilities include: Conduct comprehensive diagnostic audiologic evaluations Complete cochlear implant candidacy assessments and pre‑operative evaluations Perform device activation (“switch‑on”), programming, mapping, and long‑term follow‑up care Troubleshoot CI devices, accessories, and assistive technologies Provide counseling, rehabilitation guidance, and education to patients and families Deliver general audiology services Maintain detailed documentation and clinical outcome tracking Collaborate with otologists, SLPs, educators, and multidisciplinary teams Support the education and training of AuD students and residents in Vanderbilt’s top‑ranked academic environment What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Doctor of Audiology (AuD) ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC‑A) Eligibility for Tennessee audiology licensure Demonstrated experience in cochlear implant evaluation and programming Preferred Qualifications One year of cochlear implant clinical experience (adult and/or pediatric) Experience with Cochlear, MED‑EL, and Advanced Bionics Strong patient‑facing communication and counseling skills Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment Why Join Vanderbilt Health? Requirements

  • Doctor of Audiology (AuD)
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC‑A)
  • Eligibility for Tennessee audiology licensure
  • Demonstrated experience in cochlear implant evaluation and programming

Nice To Haves

  • One year of cochlear implant clinical experience (adult and/or pediatric)
  • Experience with Cochlear, MED‑EL, and Advanced Bionics
  • Strong patient‑facing communication and counseling skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment

Responsibilities

  • Completes full diagnostic hearing assessments using the appropriate testing method and cochlear implant equipment for the patient type (adult and pediatric), diagnosis, and reason for referral.
  • Formulates and/or implements a treatment plan to address deficits and patient/family areas of concern.
  • Completes documentation in a timely manner.
  • Provides education/consultation to patient, family, health care team and community.
  • Enhances and impacts our knowledge of the nature of communicative and related disorders.
