About The Position

Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 20 years of age within the scope of practice and established audiology standards. Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team. Supports the mission of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Audiology
  • Georgia audiology license
  • American Board of Audiology or Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
  • Knowledge of pediatric theory and practice
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information
  • Positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in pediatrics (including externship)

Responsibilities

  • Provides diagnostic assessments, including behavioral audiometry, auditory brainstem response, and central auditory processing testing as assigned.
  • Conducts hearing aid evaluations, selects/fits/dispenses hearing aids and assist devices, and provides training in use.
  • Counsels parent(s) regarding hearing loss, communication options, and financial resources.
  • Provides cochlear implant programming and bone anchored device programming as assigned.
  • Completes documentation meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Provides supervision to audiology interns as assigned.
  • Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days), I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-17 years), AD = Adult, and ALL = all ages.
  • Provides audiology services to contracted Ear, Nose, and Throat clinics as assigned.
  • Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of Joint Commission readiness.
  • Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
