About The Position

The Audio Visual Technician offers audio and projection support for Boston Conservatory productions and events. This position involves setting up and operating microphones, speakers, audio consoles, projectors, displays, and software such as QLab Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate audio consoles and playback systems during rehearsals and performances Set up and strike microphones, cabling, speakers, projectors, screens, and related equipment Set up and operate communication (comms) systems for tech and dress rehearsals Operate QLab for both sound and projection cues during rehearsals and performances Assist with load-in and strike for productions and events This role focuses on technical operation and support, not system design or content creation Adheres to department safety procedures and equipment handling guidelines

Requirements

• Ability to work independently at the sound/projection console for up to two hours uninterrupted
• Familiarity with theatrical production procedures and policies
• Be able to lift at least 25lbs
• Excellent punctuality and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow cues, run sheets, and written or verbal instructions accurately during live performances
• Interest in learning theatrical audio, projection, and production workflows

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience is helpful but not required; on-the-job training will be provided
