About The Position

The Audio Visual Systems Installation Technician position is a critical part of the Technology Integration team at the College of Liberal Arts, University of Texas at Austin. This role involves performing hardware and physical labor installations that form the foundation of complex, high-quality integrated systems. The installation team works closely with owners, project managers, and architectural designers to manage technology projects from consultation to commissioning. The position requires on-campus work and may involve evening, weekend, and holiday hours as project deadlines demand.

Requirements

  • Skills comparable to two years of experience in the skilled construction and maintenance of audio/visual equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electronic schematics, architectural blueprints, and other diagrams.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, soldering iron, crimpers, multimeters, signal generators, and testers.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to troubleshoot and assist with AV systems commissioning.
  • Must have a valid class 'C' operator's driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Degree or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • More than four years of work experience in audio visual systems installation.
  • Technical schooling in audio, video, IT, or electronics fields.
  • OSHA 10+- hour course training.
  • CTS or CTS-I certification.
  • Crestron professional installation certification.
  • Crestron DMC-T or -E certification.
  • Biamp AV lab training.
  • Extron AV associate certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hardware and physical labor installations for integrated systems.
  • Pull cable, terminate connectors, wire and set up equipment racks, and install equipment mounts.
  • Use hand and power tools, soldering irons, crimpers, multimeters, and signal generators for installation tasks.
  • Interpret electronic schematics, architectural blueprints, and other diagrams.
  • Maintain regular communication with the AV Systems Installation Manager and team members.
  • Drive a university vehicle to transport equipment and staff to installation sites.
