Audio Production Specialist
About The Position
Conceives, produces, writes, records, edits, and distributes audio content supporting NSF OLPA initiatives. Produces audio programs, segments, and podcasts, including interviewing, narration, hosting, and sound design. Leads audio post-production, including editing spoken word, natural sound, music, and effects into polished deliverables. Supports distribution to appropriate platforms and coordinates notifications to media and stakeholders. Responds to public, media, and research community inquiries regarding produced audio content. Produces and supports NSF audio programs (e.g., podcast series), including promos and features in multiple lengths. Ensures all audio products meet NSF branding and Section 508 accessibility requirements (e.g., transcripts). Coordinates review and clearance processes and maintains organized archives of audio assets.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional audio production experience.
- Demonstrated experience producing podcasts, interviews, and audio features.
- Proficiency with professional audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, or equivalent).
- Experience researching and interviewing subject-matter experts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Audio Production, Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field; or Equivalent professional experience.

- Experience producing science-focused or public-sector audio content preferred.
