About The Position

Job Description Summary: To assist the Multimedia team with college wide live events, including setup and breakdown (in-person and virtually). Supporting the use of media technology in multipurpose facilities, answering technical support questions and issues. Employees will serve as stewards to the college in order to help ensure successful events for faculty, staff, and students. Please be aware that this is both a remote work, and in-person position with a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends. You must live in the State of Texas per Austin Community College policy. Employees are required to have good internet access.

Requirements

  • Customer service principles and practices.
  • Technical support practices, AV standards and protocols in regards to supporting faculty/staff in-person and in virtual environments.
  • Computer applications including (but not limited to) Windows, Mac, Internet browsers, smart phones, tablets, and multimedia equipment.
  • Maintaining an established work schedule.
  • Familiar with AV practices and procedures: audio, video, video conferencing, and lighting.
  • Effectively using listening skills.
  • Drafting effective written communications.
  • Multitasking using phone, chat, and email concurrently

  • Familiarity with AV equipment, including but not limited to PA Systems, PTZ Cameras/Controllers, Video Switching, Audio Routing using mixing boards and software, and video conferencing equipment and platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, WebEx).
  • Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications.
  • Keyboarding skills with emphasis on speed and accuracy.
  • Able to navigate multiple operating systems and brows and able to cross reference across multiple databases and resource materials.
  • Must have consistent high-speed internet connection in place of residence.
  • Work safely and follow safety rules.
  • Report unsafe working conditions and behavior.
  • Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Multimedia team with live media event setups and breakdowns, including video productions, video conferencing (Zoom), lighting, and audio (PA) support.
  • Assists faculty/staff with technical issues in media classrooms and multipurpose facilities during live events, including multi-camera live-streaming and multi-room conferences.
  • Troubleshooting of technology in classrooms and multipurpose facilities, referring technical and non-technical questions to the appropriate departments.
  • Appropriately identifies and coordinates second tier requests when special technology requests are needed
  • Adheres to Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) and other federal and state regulations regarding privacy.
  • Provides feedback on frequent support requests for training opportunities.
  • Communicates and coordinates with internal departments.
