The New York Times is seeking an Audio Engineer to work across all current and future shows in our portfolio, with a focus on post-production. The Audio Engineer will be a resource to Opinion Audio shows, supporting Interesting Times with Ross Douthat and The Opinions initially, but may also contribute to the wider NYT Audio portfolio. This role requires a strong ability to adapt to different workflows across teams and deliver high-quality mixes that meet the standards of each show's nuanced sonic identity. As our team expands its reach into video content, the Audio Engineer will work to help our workflows integrate with video post-production processes and ensure the audio quality of our content across platforms is top-tier. You will support the wider team by running recording sessions as needed, troubleshooting any issues in our state-of-the-art VoIP studios, and coordinating technical logistics for off-site video shoots or recordings. You will offer opportunities to contribute original music to our evolving show libraries, so a background in composition is a plus. This is an in-office position, based in Washington, DC and includes regular attendance in the office four days each week. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance. You will report to the Technical Manager, Audio Post Production.
